Cancer is a powerful word!  It is a word that changes lives.

Pinking Behind the Curtain documents my journey with early stage breast cancer in the hopes that it will provide insights for the women who have received or will be receiving a diagnosis of Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. My surgeon struggled to explain to me that my treatment experience was "easy" saying, "We've got to figure out how to get the word out that early stage cancer treatment is not what it once was." My hope and prayer is that this blog will help to get the word out.

This selfie was made outside of The Frick Collection in New York City the day I received my biopsy results and learned that I had cancer. My initial tears of fear had passed and I was happy to have shared a memorable day with my husband.

Here's to a journey of hope and healing,
Mary Beth
